What I'm reading: The Family Romanov by Candace Fleming

I just finished listening to The Family Romanov by Candace Fleming. I enjoyed this book immensely. I learned so much while reading this book. I thought I knew stuff about the Romanov's, more specifically Anastasia, but in reality I knew nothing. I had no idea what actually happened. I was pleasantly surprised.

I had no idea the disparity between the rich and poor. While listening to The Family Romanov, I learned that 1.5% of the population owned 90% of the money. I couldn't believe that; it's still hard for me to wrap my head around.
I always thought I knew a few things about Russia and the Romanovs from watching the animated movie with Meg Ryan, Anastasia. Everything that I thought I knew was wrong. The movie has nothing that is historically accurate aside that there is a character name Anastasia and Rasputin.
While this book was nonfiction, it wasn't boring, full of sentences just stating facts. It read like a story. Candace Fleming would juxtapose the lives of the imperial Romanov family and the peasants. The two lived vastly different lives, and the ruler of all Russia was the oblivious to the fact.
Would I highly recommend this book? YES. A big YES. I listened to this book and I really enjoyed it. On the audiobook I listened to, Kimberly Farr read the book, and she did a really good job. I also had the book and sometimes read a long and looked at all the photos that were included in the book. This book was written for young adults, but I think everyone high school or older would enjoy this book. I'd recommend this book to those who are interested in the World Wars or learning about royalty.

The US of YA

Hey readers! I was looking at books I was thinking about reading, and I found this chart and is called the The United States of YA. It's pretty awesome. I pretty much fell in love. I now have a lot more books to add to my already huge reading list.

Is this not one of the most amazing things you have ever seen?! I have actually read a few of these but a lot of them I haven't yet but will. Have you read any of these? Are you adding any of them to your reading list? I know I am.

I wish you a good reading!

Books..

So I have recently read many books. And like any book lover I want to recommend some to you. Books are kind of my best friends. Instead of listening during trig or history, I read on my new kindle. It's kind of awesome and where ever I am it's probably sure to follow. I got the Kindle Paperwhite, its easy to use and back lit. So now you are able to read in the dark.

The first book I read on my new Kindle was Divergent by Veronica Roth. All I can say is READ IT. I liked loved the book. I read this book in about a day. So basically if you want a breathtaking novel to read Divergent is right up your alley.

And if you liked Divergent by Veronica Roth then you'll absolutely love the sequel Insurgent by Veronica Roth. This book was just as good as the first one. It was the type of book where you sit at the edge of the seat until the very end. Oh! And the ending, all I can say is that I can't wait until this fall when the third book comes out. This can't be soon enough.

If you are looking for a series that will help pass time as you wait for another series or book to come out I would recommend to you The Luxe Series by Anna Godbersen. There are four books in this series and the setting of the books takes place in the early 1900's in the high society of New York City. Through this series you see the triumph and downfalls of the high society boys and girls. This book has its very touching moments and like any book of this nature there of course is the selfish snobby heiress but she of course is put in her place.

These are just a few of very, very, very many books that I have read that I would recommend for someone to read. Hope you have a good read.

Read On!
